Portfolio > Weaving, Walking, Walking, Weaving

During the quarantine in 2020, I found myself going on many long walks in the woods and through my neighborhood. I became very aware of the plant life around me, and began to dye yarn with as many natural dye materials as I could find in the local landscape. These included Black-Eyed Susans,Queen Anne’s Lace, Yarrow, Goldenrod, Daylilies, Marigolds, Mums, Staghorn Sumac, Acorns, Oak Galls, Black Walnut Hulls as well as different types of Lichen. The final weaving functions as a record or color map of these daily walks in the landscape, and the dimensions reflect my own height and shoulder width.
